Cartel conduct is not criminalised.
It is an offence under article 501 of the Criminal Code for someone, in the exercise of their business, either through speculative practice or otherwise, to hide, interrupt the supply of or buy raw materials or primary goods or foodstuffs so as to noticeably alter the prices of these and to cause them to become scare. If a cartel is involved in these issues then a criminal offence may be committed. The sanction is a maximum fine of EUR25,822 and between six months’ and three years’ imprisonment.
